HEC bans distance learning M-Phil and Phd programmes in 13 universities | distance education banned

HEC The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has shut downed 13 Universities for enrolling in distance learning M-Phil and PhD programs.

Higher Education Commision

REASON: These institutions failed to meet the quality standards of distance learning programs, set by the commission.

After conducting visits to institutions HEC found that these universities lack the faculty to run M-Phil and PhD programs. And thus universities have been banned. This decision will effect at about 4,000 students. However, decisions have been made by committee that students enrolled in M-Phil and PhD distance learning programs must be shifted to regular disciplines of universities to stop further loss of their study.

HEC's letter to banned universities depicts:

Further admissions in any of the distance education programs being offered by universities are stopped immediately till finalization of recommendation by the committee.
